The Best Lesson....

This morning I was perusing the net and came across this.....

I love this book, and its timeless lesson. Isn't it funny how one picture from a children's book can put things in perspective?- For some reason I needed this today.

Oh and this picture was accompanied by a great blog entry: http://www.thisisreverb.com/2009/05/matrix.html. Read It.

Two lessons in one! I liked the reminder- especially since I find myself with this problem, which is a very gross problem to have.

What to do with Lemons

I LOVE Lemons

I think they're rad, look super cheery, and are one of the most useful ingredients. Lucky for this lemon lovin gal I get bags and bags of them each spring from my parents, and this year Danny's rockin parents.

Thanks to Charlie, Danny's dad, not one of these little guys will go to waste this year!

He freezes the lemon juice into ice cubes.

I thought this was a clever idea, and know it will come in so handy when I need lemon juice in non-citrus season (I am not down with spending $3 on a lemon from some far away land)

Also, I checked out the conversion and 1 ice cube = 1 table spoon. How easy is that!?

Can I get a woot woot for fresh lemonade all year round!?

Happy May Day

Let me start out with a confession, I have had no clue what Mayday was until about 5 minutes ago... luckily for me Wikipedia did :)

"Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information. "- Micheal Scott

So according to this superior source May Day is celebrated by making May baskets, which are usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someones doorstep. The basket giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged.

People also celebrate this lovely day by creating Maypoles.

Didn't you dream of Maypoles as a kid? I did.

On another note I did a google image search for "Happy May Day" and this popped up. hehe Happy May Day to you and yours!

Plagiarizing Pizza Port

Back in the day when Danny was still going to school in San Diego he introduced me to a little place dubbed Pizza Port. I am in love with Pizza port, and at times I find myself longing for our LDR (long distance relationship) days. Sure, the miles and miles of barren desert between us was hard, but the pizza was oh-so good.
Here we are at the actual port. We went there with Danny's Fam right after his graduation.

Sometimes when I am craving a pesto chicken pizza something fierce, I try and plagiarize it by doing this:
(Because I wish I was pioneer woman, here are the ingredients)

Mozzarella, feta, pesto, sun dried tomato, artichoke heart, pre-made pizza dough (I get mine from sunflower), and cooked chicken breast.

In non-pizzaport form I also made these for good measure- garlic butter ball thingies. I just took the extra pizza dough, rolled it into several small balls and poured melted butter, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning on them. Then I threw this buttery deliciousness into a 350 degree oven until they were golden.

They were good, real good. Moving on

After the pizza dough rises I roll it out, sprinkle some garlic powder on it, and bake in a preheated oven for about ten minutes. This puts the dough on the fast track to becoming a full blow crust, I guess it could be called teenager dough at this point.

Next, I take it out of the oven and spread the pesto, artichoke hearts, and sun dried tomatoes on. This is when I realize my chicken is still raw.

DANG!
I should probably just give up cooking. 20 minutes later-I add the now cooked chicken, and cheeses, pop the pizza into a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes, and relax (or wash dishes).
Maybe I didn't wash the dishes. Maybe I spent those 20 minutes watching the office, and dreaming about the finished product- which is supposed to have a picture

HERE

but I accidentally deleted it. Use your imagination and know that this pizza is really, really, intensely yummy!

Blisterin'

I know it has just begun, but year after year I get incredibly surprised when our gorgeous spring hitches a ride up North, and summer begins to rear its sweltering head!

This years summer awaking happened yesterday afternoon while I was playing catch with my lil bro'. All was well in the backyard until out of nowhere I suddenly began to melt like the wicked witch of the west!

I am not ready for 100+ degrees, I am not looking forward to a burning hot steering wheel, and I certainly have not been properly conditioned for the dreaded bathing suit! Maybe I can avoid getting into one this year.... Antarctica anyone?

Furthermore, the Border Collie is practically begging for his summer hair-do (which was an insanely cool Mohawk last year).

Needless to say I am looking forward to this weekend in Denver where Danny & I will be enjoying this:
Don not be surprised if you don't see me again until Fall! ;)
