WRONG WAY

I just saw someone driving backwards on the freeway. BACKWARDS. Oh wait it gets better, they were on a BRIDGE! as in elevated above the Earths floor.
.
I said a little prayer for their safety: Physical, and Mental.

I wonder if they were listening to Pinkerton like me. I tell you the nostalgia does crazy things to your mind.

"There's a Tourist in Every Heart"

Dear Las Vegas,
.
Thank you for hosting all us girls over the weekend. It was quite a ball of wild and crazy fun. I especially enjoyed the ghost bar, the brits, and rappin in the pool (of course).
.
I also wanted to let you know that I think this may be the end for us... We have had our fun in the past. I will never forget the reality tv stars, or waffles at 4 o'clock in the morning. Unfortunately I have matured, and as it turns out I am a girl whose nights must remain nights, and not turn into mornings. I am a girl who needs to go to church, not party in the city of sin.
.
You? Well you are Las Vegas. Which means there are thousands of starry eyed girls donning much too high of heels, and much too short of skirts lined up to take my place, and embark on all the magic you hold. (Less Carrot Top, I hope).
.
As for this girl? I will be resting my starry eyes turned bloodshot, and dreaming about more relaxing locals - such as Sun City.
.
Good Bye Las Vegas, I am sure we will meet again. I mean, a mid-life crisis is inevitable!

I want my geese to lay gold eggs

Sure fire way to make me want to pull your hair and stick my tongue out at you? Act like spoiled jerk when everyone around you is working their butts off, and all for you!
Can I get a Heck Yeah for people who are appreciative and throw out a thank you every now and again?
.
Woowee I am a little fired up... I think I am well on my way to a burn out.
.
In other news, my friends, family, and border collie (who just got a hair cut) are still cool. I saw blink this weekend, which was equally cool. Oh-and I am listening to the Across the Universe Soundtrack... double cool!

Mason Jennings

Mason is tonight!
.
I think tonight may be the night where we fall in love and run away together. Although Danny will be there, and Jennings is married (I spent a good hour looking for a picture of the lucky lady to no avail. No, it isn't creepy stalker behavior, it is research!)
So tonight.... we are driving down to Tucson, eating some Mexican Food, and then settling in to Rialto Theater to be serenaded by the man himself. I can hardly contain myself :)
.
I am lovin' his new CD, although sometimes it makes me cry.
Good tears, thoughtful tears.

Tuesday Lunch Dates- Essence Bakery Edition

Rhonda and I have started a Tuesday lunch dates tradition (at least for the semester), and since neither of our boys have particularly adventurous pallets we decided to try a new and exciting restaurant each week.
First Stop:

This is a cute little Bakery & Cafe in Tempe, right off Hardy and University. They use organic and local foods, and are famous for their delicious French Macaroons. - We split a Carmel one and it was like eating a little piece of Heaven.

For lunch we both had an Organic mixed greens salad with pecans and red wine poached pears, and a grilled blue cheese sandwich. If you are a blue cheese fan I would highly recommend this.

Overall, super cute restaurant that makes me feel all kinds of girlie inside.

Next stop: Middle Eastern!

P.S. if any of you are available to join us for the lunch dates please do :)

Adventurous Little Bird

Yay! It's Friday. This Friday means wine bar with friends, hiking tomorrow morning, a Baby Shower for Kel and the twins, and a Sunday afternoon visit to Glendale to watch the Cardinals season opener! Is it any wonder why we work for the weekends!?

For the weekend: Let your little adventure bird out! Decor8 has a bunch of these cute little pictures. Look at them, and then just try and contain your smile. I dare ya.

Last night I learned how to make foldables. I also learned that I have a progressivist teaching style. Does anyone know what a progressivist teaching style is? I would like to find out so I may get on with my philosophy!

I am pretty sure this little guy (Chupacabra?) has something to do with it.

Unfortunate looking creatures are appealing to me for some reason or another. It's like, I know you hurt peoples eyes and send small children running, but you're happy right? Good! Me too :)

Sorry about this randomness, let me make up for it with the cutest thing ever. I want to steal this puppy shove it in my pocket and put him on his back anytime I am feeling blue, or green for that matter. This cuteness is like a sin.

Ms. Mitchell

I am absolutely sure that you all know about Lisa Mitchell by now, but just in case you are super un-hip, like myself, here she is!

This is "Neopolitan Dreams" and makes me feel a little gitty inside. I can't help but cubicle dance and smile when this song is floating through the air. Watch it- you will develop a major crush!
Lisa Mitchell - Neopolitan Dreams
Apparently she finished sixth on Australian Idol. I know, only sixth! They must have some talent down under.

I am completely smitten. How about you?

If you need a reason

Yesterday was a mess. I was unstable, overly emotional, and the words coming out of my mouth well, sounded like an Irish man at midnight, after a long night with a bottle of Bourbon. This is how I spent my entire afternoon and evening, drunk Irishman... I am dehydrated from the obnoxious amount of water pouring out of my face. Today, there is no more room for anxiety and sadness in my body, seriously. This morning I decided to pick myself up and be happy. We can't control things that happen to us, but we can control how we, as individuals, go through life and take on challenges. That said, there is a lot to be happy about.

1. I spent the night at my mom's house last night, in her bed, because sometimes a gal just needs her mom. Guess what I woke up to!? No, not Robert Downy Junior doing cartwheels in a wrestling suite.... BETTER. Breakfast in bed, with French Toast, bacon and eggs. I am pretty sure bacon could be the new Prozac. My mom also shared her secret ingredient for french toast (which is the best in the world, even better than in France!)- Vanilla Coffee Creamer! Who'da thunk.
2. Danny has a surprise for me "that will be music to your ears"... Mason Jennings has a new CD, and Danny illegally downloaded it. Not to worry, I will buy it when it comes out, but I need to memorize all of the songs so that when I see him in a couple of weeks, I can stand in the front row singing loud, and hoping to make some AEC with him. Do you know Mason Jennings? If not you should. I am in love with him, and chances are one day we will find each other, fall madly in love, and run away to where the ocean meets the mountains. Danny knows about this, and accepts that one day he will likely loose me to Mason Jennings ;)

3. School started again, and despite all of the work, I love being in school. I love learning new things, and I love that I am taking steps toward doing something that I feel is important. Oh and school supplies make my knees a little weak. Look at me all in love!

4. It is Friday, not only is it Friday but it is the Friday before a long weekend! Oh how I love the weekend. I think I will spend mine hiking, hanging with family and Danny, spending some time with God, doing homework, watching Ty whoop some butt in Football, and (if mother nature cooperates) sit on the patio and enjoy summer storm. I hope you have a beautiful weekend! http://www.daydreamlily.com/

Chronic AEC

I've got it bad. From the ripe age of 13, when I was still stuffing my bra with cotton pads, wore two extra pairs of socks with my Fila sandals, and had multi-colored braces I have been afflicted with chronic AEC, also known as awkward eye contact.
It started in 7th Grade English, there was a boy who had an uncanny resemblance to George Harrison circa "I want to hold your hand". I certainly was not interested in this George Harrison look alike, but he just so happened to sit right across from me and one fateful afternoon we caught each others gazes. After that it was a continual game of glancing up only meet his awkward stare... "I looked at him to see if he was looking at me! and he ALWAYS was"... I give him the benefit of the doubt, he is likely a fellow AEC sufferer. Although 13 year old me with my stringy hair and shiny face may have been a fine site.
.
Since then I have been able to avoid repeat AEC with the same person. Unfortunately, in strange new situations it never fails- I will always make AEC with the strangest person in the room. I'm not talking good strange, I'm talking keep your children and small animals away from this dude (or chick) strange. Luckily, the whiplash-esk "I DID NOT MEAN TO MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH YOU!!!" head whip normally stops anyone who would like to capitalize on our meeting of gazes to a swift stop.
.
I have learned to live with my condition, but word to the wise look before you leap. Yeah, I couldn't think of any wise words.
.
Cheers! It is almost a three day weekend!
